The Macksville City Library is excited to announce a new program for our youngest patrons!  Thanks to a grant from the South Central Community Foundation, funds from the Stafford County Children’s Fund have been used to start the popular 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

This program is open to patrons Pre-school age and younger.  Participants will register at the library and pick up their very own Pledge book and reading log.  Parents will help record the books read to their children, and kids will turn in their reading logs after every 100 book milestone.  We will celebrate with stickers and prizes along the journey, and after the 1,000th book, their names will be added to the prestigious 1,000 Book Wall of Fame!

Reading aloud to children is one of the VERY BEST things you can do to prepare them for future success in education.  It’s also FUN and a great way to build relationships, expand vocabulary, and introduce kids to a world of imagination, facts, and amazing people & places!!!   After November 20th, you can still sign up during regular library hours.  🙂
