1,000 Books Celebration!
Hip Hip Hooray!
There is now a girl on the Mini-Mustang 1,000 Books Wall of Fame! 🙂
Congratulations to Emerson and her family for working diligently to read 1,000 books in less than a year!
Emerson enrolled in our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program last September. And, after tracking books & stories read by Mrs. Faye, big sisters, grandparents, parents, and even some audio/interactive books at the library, she reached her goal with time to spare before Kindergarten!
When asked about her favorite book, she didn’t hesitate: “Pinkalicious” by Victoria Kann. 🙂  Then, wearing her sticker & medal, with certificate & prizes in hand, she exclaimed with a sigh of relief- “Now we can read just for FUN!”
And, that’s what we hope this program fosters- a love for reading that will last a lifetime.  She’s well on her way to success in Kindergarten & beyond!
If you would like to participate in our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program, stop on by!  This program is free & open to patrons Preschool age & younger. (And, the younger kids get started, the easier it is to meet their goals!)  Participants can register at the library and pick up their Pledge book & reading log. Parents will help record the books read to their children and turn in reading logs after every 100 book milestone.  We will CELEBRATE with stickers & prizes along the journey. After the 1,000th book, their names will be added to the 1,000 Book Wall of Fame!
Reading aloud to children is one of the VERY BEST things you can do to prepare them for future success in education. It’s also FUN & a great way to build relationships, expand vocabulary, and introduce kids to a world of imagination, facts, and amazing people & places!!!
1,000 Books– WooHoo! 🙂
Great job Emerson!! I’m really proud of you!!!
Way to go Emerson! I loved seeing you at Story Hour. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
