$2,500 for the Library– Here we Grow!
Thank you, Justin Vosburgh! And, Thank you, Monsanto! The Macksville City Library received $2,500 through America’s Farmers Grow Communities. The check presentation ceremony was Feb. 6th, with Justin & Karen Vosburgh, Loren Campbell of Fonatnelle Seeds, Daron Cowan of Channel Seeds, and library board members in attendance.
With donations made available through the Monsanto Fund, Grow Communities was created to benefit nonprofit community groups such as the Macksville City Library that are important to America’s farmers. Justin Vosburgh, a farmer in Stafford County, was selected as a Grow Communities winner during the second annual program. Vosburgh chose the Library because it helps area kids.
“I think Grow Communities is a fantastic program,” Vosburgh said. “It’s nice to see that money going back into our community. I’m glad we can help out an organization that benefits so many children in the community.”
“We plan to use this money to upgrade our computers, and supplement our book budget for the summer reading program,” said Jody Suiter, library director. “This (Grow Communities) program will help draw attention to the positive things the Library is doing in the community.”
In 1,245 eligible counties, farmers could win $2,500 for their favorite community nonprofit. The Monsanto Fund expects to invest more than $3.1 million in local rural communities this year alone. In total, more than $580,000 has been donated to nonprofits in Kansas.
