News from the Library, School & Around Town
The Macksville City Library has 14 new books available thanks to a grant from the South Central Community Foundation. These books deal with babysitting. One teaches readers how to survive & excel at the job. Three of them would be fun stories to read while babysitting, & 10 of them are graphic novels from The Babysitter’s Club series, based on the novels by Ann M. Martin.
Macksville High School has a new infant manikin & AED trainer from the American Red Cross, thanks to that same grant from SCCF. We’re so excited to help kids learn skills that can save lives.
Along with these items, the grant is providing online courses for students at MHS to learn CPR, First Aid & AED training, & for MJH students to get certified in Babysitting. Check back soon to see how many kids passed the courses!
As you can see below, Macksville’s landscape is changing! This past week a foundation was poured for the new fire station, just south of the library.
We’re looking forward to breaking ground at the library, as well! The push is on, and we are sooooo close to funding our new addition. If you are interested in supporting the library building fund, please contact the library or send a donation to Box 398, Macksville, KS 67557.
