Week #23 Finish Work & a Very Good Start
Week #23 began with the siding crew hard at work on the new & original sections of the building.
Amazingly, this was the first time construction significantly affected our open hours… & then only for an hour or two…
Patrons probably COULD have ducked under the ladder scaffolding outside our front door, but we didn’t put out the OPEN sign until the coast was clear!
Inside the addition, windows were being stained to match the original trim.
Accordion doors were installed outside the kitchenette and in the doorway between our future children’s section & new programming area.
Trim was measured & cut to frame the windows & doorways, & edging was cut for baseboards & stairs.
And, inside the original library, it was business at usual. Books checked out, State Library Cards issued, computers & copiers humming, memorials given, and kids crafting & puzzling! Internet service for many in town was disrupted on Monday, but we were still connected at the library.
One Kindergarten girl was excited to explore while her mother used the computer. After crafting, coloring, & playing games, she exclaimed: “This is the best day, ever!” (Made this librarian SO HAPPY! 🙂 )
Then, an adorable two-year-old turned in a completed log for his first 100 BOOKS in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program!
Smarties in one hand & his new rubber duckie in the other, he took it all in with a sweet, shy smile…
What a perfect start for raising a lifelong reader!
Keep checking back! Our Building Journey FINISH line is in sight!
(And, check our Events Calendar to see when we will need to close for the installation of new carpet! Our WISH LIST is also a good place to check for those wanting to volunteer time, talents & financial assistance.)
