Artistic Additions to Our Collection
“The world is but a canvas to our imagination.” -Henry David Thoreau
If you haven’t noticed yet, the library is NOT just a place to check out books.
We certainly have books.
But we also have programs, puzzles, crafts, games, computers, A N D—-
ART!
We love to welcome local artists to share their gifts & inspire others.
Two recent gifts to the library are now on display.
MHS Graduate, Dennis Kephart is shown holding his woodcarving entitled: WANAGEESKA (SIOUX). He says: “Wanageeska is a fairly common male Sioux name. It means “white spirit.” The base and background is cherry wood, and the Native American is butternut wood. (Each) is carved from one piece of wood.”
The second piece of art was donated by the family of Elaine Buckman. This painting of mountain man, Andrew Garcia was inspired by a photo Elaine found while painting with former MHS art instructor & artist, Benny Broadfoot. We recently acquired the book: Tough Trip through paradise 1878-1879, which chronicles the Garcia’s adventures in the Montana territory. It is available for check out now!
Salvador DalÍ said: “A true artist is not one who is inspired but one who inspires others.“
We hope that the artwork in our library inspires viewers, like you– to create, to read, to explore, or to simply enjoy a positive connection.
