BINGO! Macksville scores a successful Summer of Reading!
Our Summer BINGO was a hit with readers all across the county! Thank you to the following sponsors/supporters of the Stafford County Reading Challenge: BOOKENDS, Hutchinson; El Roys Pizza, Stafford; Quivira Insurance, Stafford; St. John Bank of Kansas, St. John; The Country Store, Macksville; and Ida Long Goodman Library, Nora E. Larabee Library, Macksville Schools libraries, and the Macksville City Library. Prizes given ranged from a Kindle Fire & Kindle White, to gift certificates, books, t-shirts, misc. & cash! Every participant from our library received goodies, such as backpacks, pencil pouches, earbuds, & more.
Eight teens & nine adults played BINGO for some friendly competition, a chance to win prizes, and for some encouragement to e-x-p-a-n-d their reading horizons! Local BINGO winners were Nicole A. in June, and Carrie N., Parker R., and Joanne T. in July. Plus, because of everybody’s combined BINGOS & participation, our library won $125 for new books! Way to read, Macksville!!!
It’s hard to believe how quickly the summer sped by! Click the Kid Stuff tab above to see a recap of our Summer Reading program for kids 6th grade and under. 2014 was another successful Summer of Reading in Macksville! Keep it up! (And, don’t forget to return your books!)
Many new things are underway at the library. We are working on a Digitization project and have many programs planned for the library and in conjunction with our local school. Check out our Local Links at right to see some new additions tied to local art, history & photos. And, if you want to help us make a difference in our community, feel free to volunteer or check out our Wish List to see how you can help with little needs or large (that new Library Addition would help us reach sooo many!).
Have a great school year, Mustangs!
