Bring on the Kids!
Every now and then, a note arrives in the mail that you just have to share…
This past week I received a note and a donation for the library fund from far away San Francisco. The author, a MHS Alumnus from the class of 1945, was Milt Commons. Long ago, his mother, Katherine, was a Macksville City Librarian.
With his permission, here is how the letter began:
“Dear Friends of the Library,
A library is the most important building of any city or town. It is a friend, a storehouse, a magic castle, an escape hatch…. Bring on the Kids!!…”
Wow! Many ‘Thanks‘ to Milt for his kind words and his cheerful gift! We’ll do our best to live up to that charge.
And, speaking of “Bringing on the Kids!” — here is our newest young library card holder & his new book, courtesy our our Books for Babies program.
Have you signed up for Summer Reading yet? This program is for ALL ages.
And, once again, we want to welcome our new neighbor to the south. The Fire Station has made great strides since earlier picts.
The concrete driveways are poured; the doors are up, & they’re busyily working inside.
Our block is looking pretty spiffy. Can’t wait to ADD ON to the fun!
