Building– Piece by Piece
Our 5th Story Hour was held July 3rd, and despite the holiday week, we still had 22 kids show up for the fun.
We began with a little review of U.S. symbols, and then everyone stood to say the Pledge of Allegiance.
Since we are “Building a Better World,” the story we read this week was an excerpt from one of Crockett Johnson’s “Harold” books… where Harold builds his own imaginative world with one purple crayon. Kids then each drew a clue for their teams to guess.
Each team then put together a jigsaw puzzle, and finally, each participant made their own jigsaw puzzle (an ‘exploding’ craft in honor of the Fourth of July!). As they walked out the door, each received Twizzlers and Icees courtesy of the Macksville Girl Scouts. 🙂
NOTICE: Next Monday, July 10th, is our last Story Hour of the summer. All participants are welcome to attend the Finale. Remember to bring your completed reading logs & Build a Better World Challenge notes if you have not already turned them in. We will have a drawing for T-Shirts.
Following the final Story Hour, we will have a Pool Party for those who have met their reading goals. The Pool Party will be from 4:30-5:30pm on July 10th (weather permitting!).
Those who are reading for the YA & Adult programs have until the end of the month to turn in their reading logs. Keep Reading! Keep Building!
