Commemorating, Illuminating, & Celebrating @ the Library
A few weeks back, we added three cushioned chairs to the library. Then, it became obvious that we needed a small table, too. A place to set the yearbooks, read the magazines, play the chess games, do the puzzles, upload the digital books, visit with friends, & share good times!
♥
This week, we welcome a table given in memory of Barbara (Bobby) Clark. Bobby and her husband, Fred Clark, were longtime Macksville residents. In fact, Bobby was born in 1924 in the family farmhouse, 4 1/2 miles north of Macksville. Fred’s mother, Bea Clark, was a librarian at the Macksville City Library, and when Fred passed away in 2020, Bobby gifted books from his military service in WWII to the library. This table is a perfect place to showcase them.
♥
It is also a fitting place for patrons to add a piece to our current Mustang (Wild Horses) puzzle!
Another exciting addition to the library is the start of our new lighting! Electricians from Davis Electric showed up Monday and began the process of illuminating this ‘cave.’ (Allegory reference not intended! 😉 )
Workers took down the old lights on the South side of the room & left a “Yellow Brick Road” for us to paint later! (Does anyone around remember the ceiling originally being yellow?) Then, holes were cut, frames placed, & new conduit & wiring installed.
And then– VOILA! We can finally see the books on the south side of the library! ♥ (Still raising funds for lighting, but we are excited for this progress!)
Finally, we love to take time to celebrate our patrons at the library.
On Monday we had kids finding hidden snowflakes to earn ducks & making hearts & snowflakes to decorate our winter tree.
And, best of all, we had little ones looking for books to read at the library & check out for home.
This little guy wanted books he ‘watches’ (on tv), like Peppa Pig & Pete the Cat.
Thankfully, we found him some to enjoy! ♥
