E Readers– Keeping up with the times with help from GBCF!
The Macksville City Library strives to stay current as we provide library materials and services for the education and enjoyment of our community.
We are grateful to the Golden Belt Community Foundation’s XYZ Fund for a $805.90 grant that is helping us do just that!
Grant money was used to help us purchase an iPad2, a Kindle Fire, and a Nook Tablet e reader. Technology Grant funds from the South Central Kansas Library Foundation supplemented the costs of these three devices. GBCF funds also enabled us to purchase accessories and applications for each item.
These electronic devices have helped us supplement the children’s books we offer to patrons, and they have been used for learning, Internet access, photography, and videos during our summer programming.
Library staff are currently receiving training on these devices (so much to learn!), and we welcome patrons to use these devices at the library. We are always on the lookout for amazing learning apps we can share with our patrons. Feel free to share them with us electronically or when you visit the library. 🙂
The Golden Belt Community Foundation is a family of over 120 charitable funds, each created by donors to serve the charitable causes of their choice. Grants from these funds serve organizations and effect people throughout Barton, Pawnee, Rush, and Stafford Counties. At $7.3 million in total assets, the Golden Belt Community Foundation has been assisting donors with their charitable giving goals and working with area non-profit agencies in an effort to build better and stronger communities since 1996.
