Getting the Word Out!
In April, the Macksville City Library sent out newsletters to everyone in the Macksville community and surrounding rural route. We want everyone to know that the library is here to Serve! If you would like a newsletter, please pick one up at the library front desk.
Also, we want everyone to know about the Library Building Fund. Each and every donation helps, and we’re thankful to all who have (and will) support this important project for our library & community! It won’t happen overnight, but with everyone working together we CAN make this dream a reality!
We are here for our community, and THANKS to a $1,000 grant from the South Central Community Foundation,* the Macksville City Library has purchased books for all ages on a variety of health & social topics that affect so many in Macksville and the surrounding area. The goal of this grant was to show patrons that the library is here for them, offering resources, education, information and even inspiration.
Following is a list of some of the new titles purchased with the grant & being featured in April: Laughing in the Dark, Hannah’s Hope, The 36-Hour Day, No Time to Say Goodbye, 1001 Great Ideas for Teaching & Raising Children with Autism or Asperger’s, Putting Children First: Proven Parenting Strategies For Helping Children Thrive Through Divorce, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People– Families– Teens– and Children, plus a variety of books about depression, grief, cancer, drugs, bullying & more.
With grant funds the library also purchased magnifying rulers, which feature our website and can lead visitors to many local links plus health & educational information. Visit the library to pick one up (while supplies last).
And, while at the library, pick up an “Around Town- Macksville Scavenger Hunt.” After you fill it out (feel free to work together & ask around to find answers 🙂 ), bring the completed sheet to the library front desk to be entered in a drawing for AWESOME prizes* from many of our generous local merchants! One entry per person. The deadline is April 29th, 2017.
*The South Central Community Foundation is a regional foundation that manages charitable funds for seven counties in south-central Kansas. Thanks to SCCF for helping the Macksville City Library make a positive difference in Stafford County!
*Prize sponsors for our Scavenger Hunt are: The Country Store, DaB Oil, Mirror Mirror Beauty Salon, Rita’s Beauty Salon, Edna’s Bar & Grill, JT Café, The Treasure Chest, and Stafford County Flour Mill
