We’ve come a LONG, LONG way since our first dreams of adding onto the library in 2011!

And, it’s amazing to see what’s been accomplished since our Groundbreaking in August of 2022.

We’re not finished yet (forever DREAMING, of course!).

We still have shelves to purchase, windows to dress, landscaping to do, & more.

But, it was time to celebrate. AND, SO WE DID!

Thank you to SCKLS for the $500 New Program Grant, which helped us purchase party supplies, paper goods, pie servers to give away, & more.  And, Thank You to Kelby & Nicole Adams for donating the cookies for the event (they were a BIG HIT with young & old!).

One hundred people came through our doors on May 3rd, the day of the Grand Opening! Following are some photos from the day.

We had tables displaying memorabilia from the old UB Church (moved to town to be our library by Mrs. Irma Smith), historical items from MHS & the town of Macksville, tables showing our wishlist, a suggestion box, T-Shirt order forms, library card sign-up, and info on our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

What a special treat to have Bill Morris & his wife, Linda come to Macksville!  Bill is the architect we have been working with these past 12 years.

Each year he would call to check in on the project.

“We’re still raising the funds.” I’d say.

“Ok- Very good,” was usually his response, along with a positive comment on how much progress we’d made.

I think we are both a little amazed that this project finally came to fruition. I know his voice well, but hadn’t seen him since 2011. It was one hug I was very much looking forward to.

Our display showed the long list of donors who have given over the years. And, speaking of gifts– aren’t the MUSTANG bookends delivered by Robin from SCKLS amazing!

So many friends, family & community supporters attended to see this exciting new addition to our community!  Couldn’t picture them all, but THANK YOU for your support & kind words! And, THANK YOU to Gloria, my assistant librarian, who worked so hard to help make this event a success!
