Kansas Reads to Pre-K about HEALTH!
On November 19th the Macksville City Library participated in “Kansas Reads to Preschoolers- about HEALTH.” Nine eager kids walked to the library in the morning, and fifteen curious preschoolers visited in the afternoon, accompanied by teacher, Faye Aves and helper, Rosa Lopez. We enjoyed stories, songs, and a “Healthy as a Horse!” craft. Guest reader in the morning was June Miller, a medical technician, and guest reader in the afternoon was Becky Filbert, our school nurse.
This was a fun way to introduce students to our City Library and encourage them to develop healthy habits. The featured book, Bear Feels Sick by Karma Wilson, was donated by the State Library of Kansas and the Kansas Center for the Book. They have sponsored this program, for the past four years in an effort to promote the importance of reading to Kansas preschoolers and other youth.
Thanks to these sponsors, to our guest readers, the students and their teachers, and to Jetta Wellman, who donated the Little Red Riding Hood doll used with one of the stories.
