Mystifying Sights & Tails!
Thanks to a link from the State Library, we were able to watch bits of Jeff Quinn’s Reading Safari Magic Show at Story Time. If you would like to see the whole show, click on this link: JEFF QUINN’s Reading Safari. And, you can go to: bestlibrarymagician.com/bonustrick for one more trick.
The kids also enjoyed some live Science ‘magic’ with teacher, Carrie Newdigger. Brave volunteers somehow managed to stay dry and create some vibrant colors to make the crowd “ooh” and “aaah!” 🙂
Above: How did those CLEAR liquids turn YELLOW?!
Below: Getting ready for the Fourth of July!
After discussing various ‘mice’ in stories (from Three Blind Mice and Hickory, Dickory, Dock, to Tom & Jerry to Templeton the rat, to Ralph S. Mouse, to Ragweed & Poppy), we found a way for Ralph to carry some ice back to his feverish friend, using only his string tail & some salt!
Kids then made their own mice so they can do the ‘trick’ at home.
Then, everyone took home two magic wands (Twizzlers), a bag of Sparkling Mythical Creatures cookies, & a copy of Mickey Mouse’s book: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, or a Golden Book: Star Wars- A New Hope.
*And– they took home instructions to take a picture of themselves ‘reading’ to a pet (real or stuffed!). Photos need to be sent to the library so we can have them ready for the Grand Finale.
Only TWO more Story Times for Summer Reading! Are you going to make it to your reading goal?
Hope you are enjoying some fun tales along the way.
Come check out our many NEW books being processed each week!
