The third week of November was designated Kansas Reads to Preschoolers week.  We were excited to share the book, Is Your Mama a Llama?,with the three and four year old preschool classes at Macksville.  After listening to the story, we sang the song: “There was a mammal from Peru, and Llama was his name-o!” The four year olds got the hang of it quickly, and the threes excelled at clapping along! Each group colored a ‘stained-glass’ picture of baby animals and took home information about the Macksville City Library’s new 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

On November 20th we had our sign-up event for the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.  Nine kids have signed up so far for this special program for children Pre-school age and younger.  Attendees signed up for the program, picked out folders to keep, listened to stories, snacked on cheese and ABC 123 crackers, and took home their very own pledge books.  We are hoping to have some special story times for the 1,000 book group.  In the meantime, remember to log your books and check out the TumbleBooks link on the right.  Missed our event?  Come sign up anytime the library is open!!!
