Starting Off on the Right Foot!
This four year old preschooler is the newest Mini-Mustang to be added to the Macksville City Library’s 1,000 Book Wall of Fame.
Boden is the son of Mike and Heather. When asked what his favorite book was, Boden had a really hard time deciding. Pete the Cat books, a series by James and Kimberly Dean, are at the top of the list.
He also likes The Foot Book, by Dr. Seuss. Most of the time, Mom, Grandma, & sister, Blakely, read to him, but when it comes to The Foot Book, Boden can read it ALL BY HIMSELF. And, that is no “Small Feat!”
We are so proud of Boden and his achievement of reading 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. (It also takes a big commitment from family members to make it to that goal.) ♥ He is starting off on the right foot for success in Kindergarten and beyond! 🙂
The Macksville City Library’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is free and open to children Preschool age and younger. (And, the younger that kids get started, the easier it is to meet their goals!) Participants can register at the library and pick up their Pledge book and reading log. Caregivers will help record the books read to their children and turn in reading logs after every 100 book milestone. We will CELEBRATE with stickers and prizes along the journey. After the 1,000th book, their names will be added to the 1,000 Book Wall of Fame!
Reading aloud to children is one the best things you can do to prepare them for future success in education. It’s also FUN and a great way to build relationships, expand vocabulary, and introduce kids to a world of imagination, facts, and amazing people and places!
