Summer Reading #1
Summer Reading 2021 is under way!
Our first story hour is complete, but if you missed it, you can still drop by the library to sign up and decorate a Tails & Tales bag for your books! 🙂
(While supplies last!)
We started the summer with David LaRochelle’s book:Â See the Cat– Three Stories About a Dog.
Then, we previewed the book Wild Symphony, by Dan Brown. This book was given to the library in memory of Gayle Cornwell. As Maestro Mouse states in the intro: “This is not a normal book. You can LISTEN (not just look!).” Each animal in the book features a different musical composition that can be accessed on a phone or smart device, & they each share simple “secrets to life” along the way. Dan Brown’s parents were both musicians and teachers, and part of the proceeds of this book will support music education for children worldwide.
After the stories, we played a game of 30 Words or Less, where kids gave clues to describe different animals. Everyone joined in, and they met their goal to earn “Wild About Reading!“ brag tags to put on their backpacks or new book bags.
Craft time is always a favorite (especially for this librarian!), & the kids came up with some AWESOME designs when decorating their book bags.
 Â
There are many budding artists in Macksville!
A super day for our first Tails and Tales program of 2021!
Remember– we have programs for All Ages (and prizes, too!)!
Looking forward to next week’s special program with Pam Martin and whatever ANIMALS she may bring! 🙂
