Summer Reading #4- Hopping Good Fun!
Our 4th Story Hour, held at Equity Bank, featured local author, Dr. Joyce Frey, and her children’s book: Millie’s Garden and the Great Carrot Mystery. Dr. Joyce read her book to the group, while librarian Jody showed the colorful illustrations, created by Kathleen Kuchar.
The book is based on true events in Macksville, and if you keep your eyes open, you may see Millie, Chloë, Curly, Larry, Moe, and the house with the bright red awning somewhere in town!
Many “THANKS!” to Dr. Joyce for sharing her story! She also donated a copy of the book to the library & left some at the library for purchase, with a portion of the price benefitting the library!
After the story, we played a game of 4-Corners (Chloë trying to catch Millie!). Then, it was craft time. Take a look at these sweet & funny bunnies!
If “Some ‘bunny’ ♥’s you”… Or, if someone wants to say “Hello” or share “Hugs to you”… you might just find one of these critters mysteriously hanging on your door! 🙂
Finally, it was time to pick out snacks and a bunny with play dough inside before making the trek back to the library! (The light sprinkles & cool weather were much appreciated after some HOT days last week!)
THANK YOU, to Equity Bank (especially Kelly, Audrey, & Deb) for hosting our Story Hour and helping with crafts & more! The kids enjoyed this little outing (& more elbow room!), and the adorable cookies were DELICIOUS!
Remember- Next week’s Story Hour will be held on Wednesday, July 6th, due to the 4th of July Holiday. Hope to see you then!
This is a great article featuring Joyce and the bunny. The community library staff were so creative with the art project and refreshments. Good Jb Joyce and Macksville Library Staff!
