Week #11 When One Door Closes
This past week we were again reminded why NOW is the time our Building Project NEEDED to happen.
Just as freeze warnings were issued for Stafford County, our ancient furnace refused to ignite. With a burned out circuit board & a loaner space heater, patrons didn’t linger long after picking out books. And, one dedicated computer user even ran home to put on extra layers in order to tolerate the chill!
Thankfully, the right part was found, the pilot is lit, & we are now geared up to limp through to the finish line with this odiferous, clicking, wheezing relic of a furnace! (May want to bring your party hat on the day it finally leaves the library!)
Then, as if in solidarity with the furnace (and just when we needed it most), the library vacuum cleaner decided that the month of October was a good time to give up the ghost!
It looks as if “Vacuum Cleaner” will now be at the top of our Wish List and/or the next needed expense discussed at our November Library Board Meeting!
Another thing leaving the library is a stack of eight storm windows from our former east wall. If anyone is interested in making a green house, reusing the glass, or just hauling them off for recycling, contact Jody or Troy. They measure approximately 34″x79″ & are available on a first come basis for a donation of any amount to the Library Building Fund.
What a WELCOME sight- to see door jambs & doors installed this week.
Electrical updates continued & rooms became more defined.
Memorials & donations from the past weeks can be found on our Thanks & Memorials page. Thanks to ALL who support libraries & literacy… especially here, at the Macksville City Library!
Keep checking back for more on our Building Journey…
