Week #25 Good Riddance & Great Additions!
Week#25 was another whirlwind of progress.
At the end of Week #24 we had giant icicles hanging from the new eaves & frozen streams of ice on the sidewalks. The very next day, the guttering crew parked in front of the library & quickly fixed our situation!
Inside the library, workers were crawling around in our VERY dirty attic installing ductwork for heating & cooling. So thankful they devised a trashcan/ladder system to keep all the blown-in insulation & dust from flooding the library as the holes for registers were cut!
It was a little difficult to see & hear holes being cut in our decorative tin ceiling. But, the end result (and the heated air that soon flowed out of the registers) made it all worthwhile.
We’re still waiting on countertops to arrive so that sinks can be installed. These two items are necessities that will soon be functional.
The chair lift is in! The railings are in! Definitely steps in the right direction!
And, “GET YOUR PARTY HAT ON!” Our ancient furnace FINALLY left the building! No more gas fumes, clicking starter, & front door fire hazard!
The old thermostats & return are gone, too… Already planning the perfect piece of artwork to cover the hole! 🙂
The furnace left some gaping holes (and a peek at what must have been the original paint color of this historic building).
More patching to do, but this is a start. Along with some CAT 6 wiring, so patrons can fully enjoy the internet in our new space.
And, finally, another great addition– our closet doors arrived. They match the existing doors in our library & really dress up the place.
Now, we just need to figure out what kind of shelving to put in the closets to best maximize our space. One more thing to add to our Wish List!
Thanks to all who helped make this Building Journey possible… the end (the beginning!) is truly in sight!
