Week #31 Teamwork & Perseverance For the WIN!
Week #31 was an exciting one in Macksville! Our Macksville Mustangs boy’s basketball team WON the STATE Championship– 1A Division 1!
So proud of our TEAM! It’s hard to believe that many of the Seniors on this team were adorable MGS & LGS Kindergarteners when Macksville won STATE last- in 2011! Below is a page from the 2011 MHS Yearbook, available for perusal at the Macksville City Library. 🙂
The Library received memorials to the building fund this past week. Some of the memorials were for Raymond Swartz, Jr., one of the Mustangs’ biggest fans. Junior was a special member of the community- cheering on the Mustangs & friends with birthday phone calls & more.
The other memorial was for centenarian, Dorothy E. Holloway, 108, of Nebraska. Among other things, Dorothy was a teacher and avid horsewoman- riding horses until the age of 95! Information about these memorials & more can be found on our Thanks & Memorials page.
Work in the library may have temporarily halted for the week, but volunteers helped unpack some grant items & put together some shelves purchased for our closets.
Slowly but surely, we’re getting the addition ready for our GRAND OPENING! (And ready for upcoming programs & events!)
In the meantime, we’re still offering new books to check out. Recent additions are: Encore In Death, by JD Robb, The Superteacher Project, by Gordon Korman, and American Dirt, by Jeanine Cummins, a New York Times Bestseller (and patron recommended title!).
Keep checking back for the latest on our Building Journey.
Like the Mustangs, it’s taken a lot of teamwork & perseverance to get where we are today. Contact the library if you would like to help us better serve our community. (Click here to see our Wish List)
