Week #37 Befores & Afters
On Monday, Troy, Mason & Robb helped move computers, desks & the card catalog back into the library. Troy & Mason also drilled a hole in the floor so our internet cable could connect from the library to the addition.
And, on Monday, a team from SCKLS arrived & put back together our four computers: making sense of a maze of wires, cables, & networking mysteries. We now have Wi-Fi in the new addition & working printers, scanner, fax machine, & phones!
On Tuesday, Junior High students flexed their muscles & carried 16 bookshelves back into the library! They also helped move the Young Adult books over to their new home, where they are no longer hiding in the corner.
On Wednesday (& every day!) librarians worked on cleaning books, opening up shelves, & sorting through boxes of this, that & everything!
On Thursday, Junior High kids returned & helped us in the library AND outside the library. They helped put down weed barrier on the north side of the library & distributed bags of rocks to keep it from blowing away.
They also helped rake up some unruly rocks in front of the library which had escaped their original boundaries. Looks like we need to purchase some paver stones to help make the area more functional.
Students & teachers carried in two tables & helped return the adults books to the library: from Westerns & Biographies, to Inspirational books & Mysteries. They also helped begin the process of alphabetizing the books on the shelves. At one point an exasperated student exclaimed, “Oh No! Not another Macomber book!” Seems the shelf was full, & all the rest now needed moved… 🙂
After they left, I made sure Debbie Macomber had her own section! (Our readers love their Macomber books! ♥)
On Saturday, right before our Earth Day program, I noticed that my favorite succulent in the library had bloomed with blossoms peeking out from the window blinds.
So much “NEW” in the library… yet, still so much that makes it feel like “HOME”- like nothing’s changed.
We’re still here to serve the community. And, we’re excited to see how much the community is giving back!
One more week until our GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION! Hope to see you on May 3rd from 1-6pm for a Come & Go & Check out the library event!
