Week #9 Breaking Through!
Week #9 on our Construction journey began with the sounds of nail guns & power drills in the new addition. Kids inside the library were playing on computers, putting together puzzles, doing spooky word finds, & building structures for stuffed animals.
Then, on Tuesday, the pace quickened! Shelves within the demo area were cleared. Books were stacked, stashed, squirreled, & boxed away.
On Wednesday, change was in the air… LITERALLY!
The trim was removed from around the windows, & the fresh outside air streamed in. (And, the dust and plaster fell down…)
Original lath & counterweights were on display, as well as mud dauber nests from days gone by.
THEN, on Friday, we officially broke through to the new addition. The doorway was cut & book shelves removed.
The last windows were taken out & the openings framed in with new lumber. Now, when you visit the library, a large black plastic wall may greet you with a wave.
Thanks to all those dropping by to check out books, use computers, & even just to see our progress! We may have packed away some children’s books, but there are still PLENTY left to enjoy. 🙂
A little draftier & dustier than usual… but our eyes are on the prize!
Keep checking in for weekly progress reports.
