A Reason to Celebrate!
Hip Hip Hooray! It’s high time to celebrate some GOOD NEWS in Macksville!
We have a new Mini-Mustang to add to the Macksville City Library’s 1,000 Book Wall of Fame!
Congratulations, Juan Jr!
When asked what his favorite thing about the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program was, Juan replied, “My brain really likes reading 1,000 books!” 🙂 He said that Mom read the most books to him (THANKS, MOM!), & that he “even read the caterpillar book” by himself. (Gotta love Eric Carle’s classic: The Very Hungry Caterpillar) His favorite read out of 1,000? The funny Pig the Fibber by Aaron Blabey took top honors.
Well, no fibbing here: We are proud of you, Juan! You are well on your way to amazing success in Kindergarten and beyond! Keep reading!!!
If you would like to learn more about the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program, stop by the Macksville City Library. This program is free and open to children Preschool age and younger. (And, the younger that kids get started, the easier it is to meet their goals!) Participants can register at the library and pick up their Pledge book and reading log. Parents will help record the books read to their children and turn in reading logs after every 100 book milestone. We will CELEBRATE with stickers and prizes along the journey. After the 1,000th book, their names will be added to the 1,000 Book Wall of Fame!
Reading aloud to children is one of the VERY BEST things you can do to prepare them for future success in education. It’s also FUN and a great way to build relationships, expand vocabulary, and introduce kids to a world of imagination, facts, and amazing people and places!!! (even when you’re stuck at home…)
1,000 Books= Time Well Spent!
