Blasting Off –our Summer Reading Grand Finale!
How FAST six weeks flies by! This past Monday we met for our final Summer Reading Story Hour for 2019. The 26 kids in attendance each received prizes for participating, & six kids received special recognition & prizes for attending all SIX story hours! 🙂 (WAY TO GO, Naelly, Denise, Natalie, Juan, Axel & Ruth!)  Also receiving recognition were our volunteers, who helped with crafts, games, & managing the loads of books checked in & out each week! Special THANKS to Eileen, Debbie, Anna, & Elena for all of your amazing help!
   Â
After listening to the stories: Family is a Superpower, and Pig the Fibber, kids made one of a kind thumbprint doodles for their “Out of this World!” key chains, made possible by our Dollar General Summer Reading Grant.
Then, it was time for PRIZES! Names were drawn for prizes & T-Shirts (Thanks to Zenda Public Library for the extra T’s!)
   Â
Kids ‘cleaned up’ as they filled their bags with space themed folders for school, pens/pencils, books to keep & other incentives for taking part in Summer Reading! Thanks to board members who donated snacks all summer long, to individuals who donated books throughout the year, & to Dollar General for the $1,000 grant for Summer Reading.
Following Story Hour, all those who met their reading goals were invited to a Pool Party at the Macksville Swimming Pool. Thanks to the Pratt Walmart for the $50 donation which helped provide snacks & prizes for the kids.
Note: If you participated in the Macksville Summer Reading program for kids 6th grade & under, you can still meet your goal & turn in your reading log before school starts for prizes at the library!
AND: If you are participating in Macksville’s Young Adult or Adult Summer Reading Program, you have until August 5th to turn in your reading log!Â
So many new books at the library! Come check them out today! 🙂
Thanks Jody, for another Out of This World Summer Reading Program!!! Macksville is so,lucky to have you for our librarian.
