Literacy Night Fun!
Thank You, to the Macksville PTO for inviting us to be a part of Literacy Night at the MHS Gym.
A good group of kids (& many adults) showed up in their PJ’s, with blankets & stuffies in tow.
I dug out my Daffy Duck slippers from the back of the closet & chose a bag of books to show the kiddos.
After hearing about our many programs for kids, they oohed and ahhed over the new books available at the library (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Amulet, Press Start, Odder, ETC!).
They chose to listen to the book Mean Soup, by Betsy Everitt. This book shows a slightly silly way to turn a bad day into a GOOD day!
After the story, every student chose a book & then found someone to read it with… from parents & siblings to teen volunteers & teachers & their local city librarian.
My reading buddy was so excited when I told her that the book she chose was going to be hers “to keep!” 🙂
After reading, the kids made colorful bookmarks & enjoyed some popcorn & bottled waters.
Thanks again, Macksville PTO for helping promote the FUN of READING!
