Season of Giving- Recent Gifts, Memorials & Grants
Tis the Season… and we at the Macksville City Library are honored to be on the giving and receiving end of generosity and caring.
Congratulations to our Christmas Drawing Winners: Ema W., Carol B., and Charlie C. … Enjoy your Christmas books and cozy blankets!
One winner was feeling extra generous & gifted his winning book to someone at the library (so we let him pick a book from our ongoing Book Sale to keep— which he then picked to give to his little sister! 😉 )!
In the mail recently, we received two generous $500 gifts to the library– one for the building fund and one for library needs and programming. WOW!
On Dec. 19th we received a $121.67 check from the Golden Belt Community Foundation for the GREAT Charity Giveback. This check was from donations received on Giving Tuesday (see our Thanks & Memorial page for more info). Thank you to GBCF for including us in this special program which featured over 475 gifts to 90 organizations/funds for a total impact of just over $230,000. Amazing!
One recent memorial given to the Library Building Fund was from the City Of Macksville in memory of Esther Rose Staub, mother of assistant librarian, Linda Murrow.
Another memorial was the book: Keeping Love Alive As Memories Fade, given in memory of Paula (Barstow) Walker– MHS Class of 1944, by the Robb Suiter family.
Grants are a vital part of programming at the Macksville City Library. Below is a photo from the South Central Community Foundation’s Stafford County Grants Ceremony in November. The Macksville City Library received a grant for approximately $1,000 for CPR training and heart health awareness materials to be distributed/utilized in our community and our schools in the new year. Check back later for more info on this program & more library happenings!
