Summer Reading #1 – Libraries Rock!
37 kids showed up for our 2018 Summer Reading Program #1! It was exciting to see several out-of-towners who made the drive to Macksville to join the fun. 🙂
First off, we brainstormed our favorite things about the library, and I am happy to report that close after “Computers” and “Games,” “BOOKS” made the top three! “Free Wi-Fi” was high on the list, as well. And, characters like Fudge, Stink, Poppy, Junie B. & Pete the Cat were also favorites.
We read the book: Hide and Sheep by Andrea Beaty, which featured some library loving ewes (nibbling on books from A to Z).
A few rounds of the game Heads or Tails! brought many giggles and unexpected winners (once, none at all). We read a couple more quick books and decorated our book bags to show the things we love- because, like libraries, WE ROCK, too. ( A big high-five to the girl who wrote: “Libraries are awosom!” on her bag!) 🙂
Kids also got toothbrushes to take home and a new brushing chart to fill out if they want to win a prize. These were leftovers from our SCCF Grant program in February. It’s almost time to replace their old toothbrushes, and we want to keep encouraging good dental care. 🙂
See you next week for an exciting story hour: Rock and Roll Animals!
