We’re still Dreaming Bigger!   A year ago we went the City Council to propose an addition to the library (see previous post).  Since that time, an account has been set up  for donations toward a library addition at the Macksville Branch of the St. John National Bank.

Proceeds from Macksville’s 125th Homecoming Celebration went towards the addition  fund, as did proceeds from a Quilt Raffle and earnings from an MHS Concession Stand- manned by librarians, board members & friends.  Individuals have given to the fund, and a running list of contributors & total giving will be listed on the ‘Thanks & Memorials’ page.  (Please let us know when you give if you would like your gift to remain Anonymous)

As I write this, all three patron computers are in use, and a group of kids is playing Twister & giggling in the children’s area.  Twenty-four patrons have visited thus far today, and 23 books have been checked out.  We’ve sent off for two interlibrary loans & answered questions about a patron’s new Nook.  It is slower than in the summer when we are BUSTIN’ AT THE SEAMS with KIDS, but year-round we are still a ‘happening place’ in  Macksville, KS!

This addition is now at the top of our WISH LIST!  We will post updates on our progress towards this goal periodically.  Thank you, to all who faithfully support our library, our youth, and our community!
